Question: Manual Transmission Accident question? Posted: 18 Aug 2016 04:56 PM PDT Hi. I have a 2012 Volkswagen Golf with a 5 speed manual transmission. The vehicle was in first gear, the car was parked with the hand brake on. The car was turned off. A another car hit my car. My car was hit from the rear drivers side and it pushed my car forward about 3 or 4 feet. I haven't driven it yet because we can't find the keys. My question is, since the car was in first gear when it was hit, do you think it will have damaged my manual transmission. My initial thought was no because it likely just slid on the tires. If the tires tried to forcefully turn, the internal gears would already have been meshed together anyway. Anyone experienced with manual transmissions, I'd love your thoughts. Any issues likely with the tranny, internal forks, etc... Thank you |

Question: Water pump replacement for a Chrysler 300 (3.5)? Posted: 18 Aug 2016 04:40 PM PDT Replacing the pump itself is not that big of a deal (though it DOES take a while!), but your major issue is going to be that yes, it does run off the same serpentine belt as the timing, so you have to get the new belt on with the notches in PRECISELY the same places...here are a series of videos with all the steps involved Good luck! |
Question: New ignition coil, car runs worse!? Posted: 18 Aug 2016 04:11 PM PDT Replaced headgasket on my 1991 mx-6 gt turbo, car stuttered and I assumed it was because of the coolant leaking into the cylinders. After replacing it my car still stuttered but only under load, it will rev and idle fine. Drove the car for 3 months like this, just drove slow everywhere. I replaced the ignition coil by itself and it ran worse (more stuttering), im sure it's plugged in and grounded correctly. I then replaced the spark plugs and wires, I accidentally had two of them backwards at one point but im sure they are correctly placed now, I have confirmed multiple times. The new plugs are gapped correctly. The exhaust is completely clean when running and it is at 25 vacuum at idle. Also the wooshing sound at the end I would hear sometimes after letting off the throttle when driving. |
