automatics.<br/>in some high end cars, automatics are getting so good they they allow for more speed and better fuel economy but thats only on high end cars with advanced automatic gearboxes.<p>beyond this and on a more personal leve, I prefer stick shift.<br/>I love to drive. the physical connection between myself, a machine and the road is just so much fun. I like knowing that if I move everything at the proper speed, the the proper force, I can make a car do some amazing things. a stick shift provides a closer match between the driver and the car. it gives more control. not just of the gear ratios but of the clutch and how shifting is done overall.<br/>I don't think i would give that up for the convenience of even the best automatics.<br/>the only place where I would accept an automatic would be in a proper racecar.
