Question: How much do A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) certified mechanics start off hourly in CA? Posted: 09 Aug 2016 12:35 AM PDT They start out at whatever the going rate is for a new employee at whatever company they hire on to. There is no "universal" pay scale for aircraft mechanics. Just don't expect to get paid like a professional.

Question: How do you build an ultralight aircraft? Posted: 08 Aug 2016 01:25 PM PDT What you are describing is everyone's dream. For what you can afford it is not going to happen! Designing safe aircraft, even ultralights, is a science which you can't teach yourself. You have a couple of routes you can take. Look on somewhere like Ebay or Trade-a-Plane and find a nice machine somewhere near your budget, and there are a few, or build one from a kit. In any event, the very cheapest thing in aviation is ''good advice'', so be sure you get some! With anything second-hand, you are buying something someone else no longer wants. There is usually a reason for that, so get someone who knows ultralights to make sure it is not a potentially fatal flaw in either the purchase or worse still, the machine. Remember that you get exactly what you pay for. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is! If you decide to build, build from a kit. All the components are built to do their job and the design is tried and tested. The makers don't want you killing yourself, it is bad for their reputation, so they will be able to help you with advice. Best of all, join your local branch of the EAA, they can help you choose an ultralight or a kit and make sure you do it safely. Above all, just because you don't need a licence, it does not mean you don't need some training! The EAA can probably put you in contact with people who will teach you how. Remember that in aviation, gravity always wins, a crash from 20 feet can be life changing, and not for the better! Good luck!
Question: Are crosswind landings on fsx accurate to performing crosswind landings in real life? Posted: 08 Aug 2016 10:42 AM PDT Absolutely NOT - FSX is not to be considered as an approved training tool - Training provided by an instructor is the only form of crosswind training acceptable - FSX is a game -
