Question: The chance of a plane crash and what would a pilot do if they found out that they were about to crash?

Don't worry. Plane crashes are extremely rare. A million-billion more people die from automobile accidents than from plane crashes.

Pilots often say that the most dangerous part of flying is actually during the drive to the airport.

If a pilot were to find out there was something wrong with the plane, he would put all his focus on flying the plane to make it NOT CRASH. If crashing was DEFINITELY about to happen, he would DEFINITELY try to make it so that the crash would NOT be very bad.

Last week, my wife flew from California to another state. I was very worried, but that was a normal type of worrying. I worry no matter how much I believe it is safe....unless I am the one flying.

Question: Six Russian jets try to enter USA air space, what does this mean for the USA? please read?

Yes, that happens on a regular basis, since part of Russian airspace borders US airspace off the coast of Alaska. Part of maintaining sovereignty over your own country is the ability to control your own borders. That includes regularly patrolling your own airspace. In the case of a shared border, that means flying right up to a few km of the border and then turning around. It also means sending up a pair of fighters to investigate if something unannounced appears on radar.

It's really not a big deal, but the air force sometimes like to hype it up in the press to justify their budget. This happens in Russia and the USA.

They didn't try to enter US airspace. From time to time, US or Russian planes will "stray" into each other's airspace, and the host country's fighters will issue a radio challenge and escort them back out without firing a shot. It's a bit more serious, but still not a huge deal.

So, yeah, this does happen on a fairly regular basis. The air force doesn't always issue a press release. If they did, I guess it means there's some bean counting going on in Washington.

Question: Something strange in the night sky... UFO?

Something strange in the night sky... UFO?

I saw a white dot out my window with the distinct red green white flash a plane does, I didnt think anything of it until I closed my eyes and opened them maybe 5 min later and the 'plane' was at the same spot... I looked at it through my rifle scope and it has the red on the left, green on the right and is not moving at all. I have been watching it for 10 minutes and no movement. I live in SouthWest Arkansas so there are no military bases nearby that a large helicopter could be from... wtf is it?

Plane like flashes, but not moving....

Question: Why are the Russian flying near US air zone with bombing jets?

Posted: 19 Sep 2014 06:52 PM PDT

Just to "test" NORAD defenses -
They been doing that since the 1950s... nothing new -

They stopped playing games in the 1990s...
But since Putin, they started with hopes of becoming a world power again -
