Question: Is Mitsubishi just ending production of the evo, or the entire lancer series all together?

Mitsubishi has remained fairly tight lipped about the Lancer's future. It would appear it would continue on as their mid-size sedan.

They are discontinuing the EVO because it does not fit into their "green" initiative with hybrids and all electric vehicles. That is the direction they want to take their company and the EVO is not a good representation of that.

Sadly, it is the death of a great vehicle.

Question: How does one replace the heads on a 1999 jeep grand Cherokee 4.7 liter v8 dual over head cam?

Not enough info but say 99 you don't do if mileage is high. if a rebuilt head which would be like new top in on old lower in you loss a rod or crank bearing to fix that you most pay to take off what you just paid for again because they most remove the top to fix lower. ok better way to go it look at auto wreckers for a good used one with a warranty. try www,car-part.com

Question: 2001 Dodge Intrepid Water Pump Tensioner Issue?

Posted: 15 Sep 2014 12:35 PM PDT

I just purchased this vehicle from a friend of a friend. Runs nice, 185,xxx miles. Paid less than I expected so no complaints.

I noticed the engine had a rattle though when I started it with the hood open. I'm definitely no mechanic, so my first thought was "oh no, it's a rod." But it's not loud... Barely audible with the hood shut, recognizable with the hood open for sure. And it knocks in time with the engine cycle (it rattles faster when I accelerate, etc)

I searched YouTube for similar issues and I heard a video of a newer model Honda engine producing almost the same exact sound. It turned out that the issue of that car was the Water Pump Tensioner. I have no idea what that is, if that would be my issue for sure or how bad it is to continue driving the vehicle in that state if that IS the problem.Anyone want to shed some light on this? Say that the water pump is the problem. Stop driving it? And if it isn't the water pump tensioner, what else?

Question: Modifying the 2014 Audi S5?

Posted: 15 Sep 2014 11:06 AM PDT

Check out this site. it is APR Performance. they are a world famous Audi tuner and they have a ton of stuff for the A5/S5.

http://www.goapr.com/products/?vehicle=A...

on the S5 you can expect gains of around 75 hp on 93 octane fuel or 100 on race fuel.

add in their catback exhaust and an aftermarket intake and you have over 100 hp extra with few mods.

for reference, the ECU flash costs $1300, the exhaust costs $2475 and a 2 stage intake would be $700 which would be a total of $4475 for a solid 125 hp on 93 fuel (probably around 150 on race fuel)

if you are worried about the handling, I can only recommend that you test drive one. Audis AWD system is great for grip but it makes doing things like donuts or drifts incredibly hard. if you like your cars to be more tail happy, a BMW is probably better. if you want maximum grip, the audi is probably best.

personally, I don't recommend changing the suspension on a high end car. most have gotten to a point where they are at a perfect mix of comfort and handling. now I'm not completely sure but I think the 2014 S5s come with electronically controlled dampers which do the job that some coilovers would do. if anything an anti roll bar might help keep it flatter under cornering but if you are not taking the car to a racetrack, you won't really notice the difference.
some lightweight wheels would be much better at improving handling by reducing unsprung rotational mass which has a terrible effect on the performance of the car (unsprung weight is weight not controlled by the suspension. any bumps on unsprung mass create more drastic effects. a lighter set of wheels will allow the car to maintain better grip over rougher terrains as well as lighten the load on the steering, engine and brakes making the car feel a bit sharper to drive.
