Question: What's wrong with my car? Posted: 24 Sep 2014 04:57 PM PDT What's wrong with my car? I went to use my car (Mazda Protege Speed if that matters) a couple months ago and the battery was dead. I charged it and it still didn't work. I bought a new one, put it in, and it worked fine for a day. The next day it was dead. I charged that battery and put it back in. Still doesn't work. Nothing works, the key fob, the lights, nothing. It doesn't make a noise when I try to start it. So I'm just wondering what to do next. I don't think it's the battery. Unless I got a faulty battery. Maybe the alternator? Any input would help! |
Question: Why doesnt car radio display work? Posted: 24 Sep 2014 04:30 PM PDT Why doesnt car radio display work? I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe and the radio display where you change the station and you can see the time doesn't work. It works fine during the day when it's bright but at night or early morning when it's dark there is nothing, no time or radio station or anything. Wondering why this would be happening and how to fix it. Also the speedometer and other gauges don't light up. But they never do. Thanks for the help! |
Question: Do you have to reset the timing if your going to replace head gasket? Posted: 24 Sep 2014 04:29 PM PDT Easy, scribe the ear on the distributor with the adjacent surface on the head. The distributor is keyed and can only go in one way, the limited adjustment is only available from the slots in the hold down ears. |
Question: Truck "check engine" light turns on and off? Posted: 24 Sep 2014 04:28 PM PDT I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota with about 150,000mi on it. I've had it for four years and my Dad use to be a mechanic and keeps it in shape, but I have been at college for a few months without any work done on it and the 'check engine' light will turn on once in a while and then back off. I would get up in the morning and drive it to the store about 2mi away and then spend ten minutes in the store and when I get back in my truck, the check engine light is on. And then the next day it is off again. I've noticed it acts a little different when the check engine light is on sometimes, and other times it works perfectly normal even with the light on. I'll try to describe what occasionally happens and hopefully you can tell me what is going on (not too technical, I don't know a lot about cars), and how serious it is. Sometimes when the light turns on, my truck will take longer to get up to speed. If I am stopped and take my foot off the brake, it won't creep forward like it usually does when in Drive. And then when I accelerate, there seems to be a pause before it rolls forward and when it does roll forward, it slower and sounds louder than usual, kind of tired-sounding. But once it is up to speed it acts normal again. |
