Question: How to find owner of a boat? Posted: 18 Sep 2014 11:29 AM PDT Like car license plates, you can't trace the boat's registration number back to the owner. How about a note taped to the windshield ??? |
Question: Why is my boat pulling hard to starboard? how can i fix it? Posted: 18 Sep 2014 07:07 AM PDT Why is my boat pulling hard to starboard? how can i fix it? So I just got a used boat with a 120hp Tohatsu outboard and it pulls hard right unless I'm holding the wheel tight at higher speeds. |
Question: What would you do if your ship was sinking and there are no lifeboats left? Posted: 18 Sep 2014 05:43 AM PDT My boat ? There's a choice of a covered liferaft, inflatable dingy, windsurfer and maybe a little cat I use as a tender. If those are all gone, if there's time I'd put on my full wetsuit, failing that a floater coat and as much clothing as I could find (jeans, jumper, 2 shirts - the water's cold here), a PFD, and collect a few supplies into a bag with a float (fender, buoy, lifering) such as VHF radio, satellite communicator, GPS, flares, food, drink, camera (gotta take a few selfies), maybe swim fins, and keep trying to call someone. With the fins, I might even make it to land. I'd make sure the ship really was sinking - there have been cases where a boat was found but the crew and the liferaft were never seen again. So first off, I'd try and stop that happening - fix the hole somehow with whatever it took - wrapping sails arond the hull, stuffing bedding in a crack, tearing up floorboards to screw into the hull over a hole caulked with maple syrup and toilet paper.. |
