Just got a used amp from my sister.( The amp sub set up worked in her car) and it's not the subs because I hooked up a smaller amp and it worked fine. Question: Jensen power 760.4 getting really hot? Posted: 30 Sep 2014 06:30 AM PDT Hi so what to expect from amplifiers is this for every watt of music power you hear it takes 3 times that to power it. that power goes somewhere in most cases it is generating heat. so 500 watt music is produced from 1500 watts of power. so 1000 watts of heat is what appears on the case of the amplifier and eventually it will get sod hot it burns out it's own power devices if it does not get enough cooling of it's case. so it will go BANG at some stage and you would need a new one this is simple basic physics of how amplifiers work. so now you are profoundly deaf also was it really worth it. not to mention the near 100 amps you have drawn out of the battery and electrical system. Source(s):As a telecommunications engineer power in both audio and radio amplifiers are what i have dealt with all my 60 years on this planet. |

Question: Can you replace a car sound system monoblock with any other monoblock? Posted: 30 Sep 2014 03:14 AM PDT As in the stock amplifier? You say better assuming more wattage? Probably not. You will need to run a larger power and ground wire. If you can find the remote and signal you can tap those. Plus the connections will more than likely not plug in. It's still really easy though. Look at youtube for installation. Also keep in mind if this is factory equipment they are probably pretty well matched. So you will more than likely blow the factory sub. You also need to know the ohm rating. How big are you going? Determines wire gauge needed as well as additional upgrades. Your alternator can only put out so much amperage... |
