Question: What is the process in boarding an amtrak train? Posted: 26 Sep 2014 04:28 PM PDT What is the process in boarding an amtrak train? I'm riding an amtrak train for the first time in like 10 years probably if not longer. I realized there was no seat information on my ticket. Do you just kind of board and pick what seat you want within the coach seating area or do they direct you to a seat? |

Posted: 26 Sep 2014 02:58 AM PDT A locomotive of mass 124,000 kg pulls a train of 30 carriages where at 8.0 m/s it is still accelerating at 0.1 (m/s)/s, what is the maximum incline angle the locomotive and train can manage at the same speed ? g = 9.81 (m/s)/s |
Question: Have you ever been on a train (Amtrak)? Posted: 25 Sep 2014 06:03 PM PDT It's something like a bus, but you have much more room so it's much more comfortable. Also trains in the US tend to be very slow. Our track is in very bad condition because we don't keep it up, so trains generally go about 45 mph. (You can get a 'speedometer' app for your cellphone and actually clock it!) Plus you can get up and walk around on a train. You can go to the 'dining car', which these days is usually just vending machines, but there are tables there where you can play board games. The cool thing about trains is they go right through the middle of every town, right through downtown! So you see a lot more out the windows than you do on a bus. Plus you're up higher so you can see more. The cars are like two-story, the first floor is the bathroom and luggage storage, the second floor is where you ride. |
