Question: What does code P0442 mean? Posted: 29 Sep 2014 05:01 PM PDT What does code P0442 mean? I have a 2002 Ford Mustang and today my cars service engine light came on and i got a scanner and the only code that came up was P0442. What does this mean? What are the solutions to fixing this problem? Is it safe to drive it for a few more days since Im very busy during week days and I won;t have time to take it to the mechanic untill saturday (in case i cant fix the problem myself? How much would a repair cost? |

Question: 79 ford f250 460 wants to start but dies? Posted: 29 Sep 2014 04:36 PM PDT Your starting resistor is open. That means there is a big resistor that goes to the coil, and during starting, the resistor is bypassed. When the car is turned to "run" the resistor delivers less power to the coil because that's the way it works. The resistor essentially allows a huge spark to be delivered during cranking, then goes to normal as the engine runs. If the resistor is open, this is exactly what happens. |
