Question: Should I install another new MAF sensor?

Should I install another new MAF sensor?

Our 05 merc mountaineer has been throwing out lean bank 1 and bank 2 codes for the last couple of years. After we got it painted we decided we wanted to get rid of the CEL light. I've changed everything I can think of. (pcv valve, intake manifold gaskets, o2 sensors, MAF sensor) Anyways we replaced the maf sensor just because we had one already for it. When I put the new one in I erased the codes from the car. For 2 weeks the light never came back on but the truck ran like crap and would occasionally idle really low and turn off. So I sprayed the crap out of the old MAF sensor with maf sensor cleaner and put it back in... now the CEL is back on within a day but it's running well. I don't understand either we can have no CEL but it runs like crap or have CEL and it runs terrible? Any suggestions? Should I buy another MAF sensor?

Question: How can I get more speed out of my 1966 f100?

Speed is all about gearing and gear ratios. The engine gives you power or torque, the transmission gets the power created by the engine to the wheels via the drive shaft ( there is some gear ratio stuff happening here, but not easily changed). The rear differential is where you will need to focus. Perhaps your truck came from the factory with a steeper ratio.

The gear ratio is simply the number
of revolutions that the drive line has to make for the tires to make one complete revolution. One revolution of the rear wheels usually moves a vehicle a little over 6 feet.

If you have a 2:80 to 1 rear end in your truck. This means that the drive line must make 2 complete revolution plus 80% of another revolution to turn the rear tires one complete revolution. So with that in mind, it's easy to see that the drive line in a truck equipped with a 3:50 rear end would have to make 3 complete revolutions plus .50 (or 1/2) of another, and that the drive line in a truck equipped with a 4:11 rear end would have to make 4 complete revolutions plus .11 of another, and so on.

It is important to remember this fact. If you change from a 2:80 rear end to a 4:11 rear end, the truck will go slower at the same engine speed. Since your speedometer is operated by your transmission and will be calibrated for the 2:80 rear end, it will tell you that you are going around 90 miles per hour when you are really only going 60! Remember that you will need to have your speedometer adjusted whenever you change gear ratios.
Also, the 2:80 equipped truck will have a much higher top speed than the 4:11 truck but it will take a lot longer to get there. How this effects most of us in our trucks is that we want a happy medium where we have good low
end acceleration but the truck is still comfortable going down the freeway at 60 to 70 mph. I am guessing your ratio is closer to the 4:11 end of things

You would either have to change the gearing in the rear differential, or find a complete rear end with a different ratio. Also what you gain in top end speed, you will lose in bottom end launch (the ability to roast your tires off of the rim)

Question: I dropped my iphone 5 in water! Help!?

I dropped my iphone 5 in water! Help!?

So I dropped my iPhone 5 in water a few days and I put it in rice immediately for 3 days. I turned it on and it worked fine except on the screen you could see kind of a 'stain' on it that was always there but I ignored it and it worked for a day but then I forgot to charge it and it ran out of battery. So I charge it for a little while but it wouldn't turn on so I put it in rice for another day. Then I tried to charge it again after taking it out of the rice, but after hours of charging, the iPhone was really hot but it wouldn't turn on. And I unplugged and now it's just sitting there and I don't know what to do because I've never heard of this happening? Help please!
