Question: I'm interested in becoming a pilot but I don't know where to start. I'm 16 years old and any suggestions will help?

Look, without wanting to be rude, we get asked this question very frequently. It is a complicated answer that takes time for the people on here to give.

I am sure you will understand if I suggest that you simply type "How do I become an airline pilot" into the Search Answers box above. You will find everything you need to know and if you don't, come back with specific questions which we will be glad to answer.

Question: Changing AFSC in the AirForce?

Posted: 29 Oct 2014 07:52 AM PDT

The only helo gunners are in Special Ops and Search & Rescue. The S&R has a gunner, and the FE also mans the weapons. You really didn't ask a question. What AFSC do you have now?

You can always cross train in the USAF, if the job you are going into needs more personnel.

Question: Fear of plane crash and going on holiday?

Posted: 29 Oct 2014 01:14 AM PDT

you're more likely to be killed in a car crash on the way to the airport.....seriously the scariest thing about your trip is that it's going to be 27hrs!!!!

I've got relatives in the UK too, but I only have like a 10hr flight from the west coast of the US and that's nothing compared to your trip! yikes!

But seriously as for flights for me to the UK I've made the trip there and back at least 16 times in the past 25 years (I might go back again next year too) and I'm still here, my dad flies international almost every other month for business all over the world and has done that for the past THIRTY YEARS and he's ok.....and of course skipper was a career pilot and he's ok too!

So again you're getting paranoid and scared over nothing, frankly your biggest concern is how much you can sleep to make the trip go by faster.....cause frankly while I can do 10-12 hrs standing on my head 27hrs to the UK and back sounds like absolute hell!
