I have a 72" Mercontrol connected to 140 HP Mercury inline 6, won't properly reach higher RPM's?

I've got a 72' style mercontrol on a Hydroswift boat. Connected to 140 horse inline 6. When I throttle up the motor will not reach high rpm's unless I move the spark advance on the motor by hand, then she runs great until I throttle down. Then same story. Is the lever on the side of the control simply a warm-up lever? Should the main handle be controlling throttle response?

Seems to me (if I interpret your question correctly) that form follows function. If someone thinks they wish to buy a boat, different kinds of boats appeal to different audiences, depending on what kind of boat they need for conditions and purpose. Then there is the cost factor. I could buy a whole lot of Kayacks for what a good bass boat costs and a top of the line bass boat, well, a good ocen-going fishing boat costs a thousand bass boats.

Does it matter what color flag I wish to fly or what race I am? No. Depends on what I can afford toward what purpose I intend.

There is a line between being vague so as to not prejudice the answers (I do that usually) and asking such a vague question to where nobody actually knows what you are asking.
