Question: Correct name for super slow RPM DC motor.?

I recently disassembled a mini laser machine like for dance floors and found that the motor inside had a VERY slow RPM, like 1 rev per minute if that. The motor itself was about 1 inch long like those little hobby motors.

I got some ideas for projects to do with such motors but I am having a hard time with the key word to use when looking for one. I've typed slow adjustable speed motor.... but the results assume 100 rpm to be "slow". I mean REALLY SLOW and would like it to be adjustable speed or at least something that would work be adjustable if I wired a potentiometer between battery and motor. I'd like to be able to adjust RPM between 1/4 thru 1 or 2 RPM.

So if anyone knows what such a motor is called that would help my search.

I know it is not a stepper motor, because those are twitchy, while I am looking for a smooth rotation.

Update : BTW, the pic is only to approximate the physical size of the motor I am talking about.

Question: Crankshaft question?

Okay, so I have a Honda Civic 2005 DX, everything in it is fine. I had my timing belt changed with mechanic 1 in mid August. It had around 118,000 miles on it.

Fast forward to last week, I'm at a red light and the car's engine shut's down. I see the starting up lights on the dashboard. I have to put it in park and restart the engine. The check engine light is on. This has happened multiply times since, but my car is still running as of today.

I went to mechanic 2 and he said whoever changed the timing belt must've messed up or damaged the crankshaft sensor. I go to mechanic 1 and he says it'll cost me 270 total for him to replace/fix it.

Should I go ahead and change it? I feel like this is mechanic 1's fault and I shouldn't have to pay for everything. Obviously I know next to nothing about cars so any input would be appreciated.

Question: I rear ended someone today and there's little to no damage to my car, however?
