Fastest on water? Hydrofoils... Loads of engineering though

Question: Can I use power steering fluid as power trim fuild?

Posted: 30 Oct 2014 08:50 PM PDT

If you are adding fluid to top up a system that already has fluid in it, it's important to use the same fluid. Different power trim systems use different fluids- as example, over the years Mercury has used trim systems that used power trim fluid or ATF, power steering fluid (almost the same, and can be mixed) and some older systems used SAE30 engine oil. Before adding any fluid, find out what is already in it. If you are unsure what the existing fluid is, give the year and model of your engine, and I'll tell you what the recommended fluid is.
