Question: What is the fuel burn for A340-300 per hour? Posted: 10 Nov 2015 03:43 AM PST From reading a lot of topics on a-net i was pretty sure, that the A340 consumes a bit more fuel than the A330. Then i looked at the SK homepage, where they have a breakdown of their fleet. http://www.sas.dk/da/Om-SAS-Danmark2/SAS... According to these numbers the A340-300 consumes 0.039 liter pr seat/pr kilometer. In comparison the A330-300 consumes 0.051 liter pr seat/pr kilometer. The aircraft have the exact same number of seats, lenght, wingspan and weight. The only difference is, that the A340 has 3.100 km longer range. Can anyone shed a light on, how this adds up with all the statements on a-net regarding high fuel consumption on the A340 vs. A330. |

Question: How to get into building and repairing jet engines? Posted: 09 Nov 2015 03:49 PM PST So a short story to cover all is that I have been fascinated with aerospace and automotive engineering since I was a kid. As a child Ive read many technical books covering the works of aeronautics and many engine types. In high school I really got into building engines and getting down to the science of how they operate, however thats where it ended. I'm still fascinated about jet engines and planes. However unlike cars/trucks, I can't afford to buy and build a Jet engine. That is primarily how i work and perfect my understandings, by working with my hands. Books can only tell so much, however that doesnt mean anything if I dont get into the field. If I go the college route, which I can't afford, I'm looking at 7 years of education considering my education status, I didnt graduate a shining star. What would you recommend? I dont even want to make alot of money, I just dont want to spend alot. |
Posted: 09 Nov 2015 02:47 PM PST sort of. the phantom x-1, for example, was developed for aerobatics but not certified as such. personally, i'd prefer to learn aerobatics in a real plane. i've flown a citabria, albeit for tailwheel training. the same people do aerobatic flight training and use a super decathlon for the purpose. once we get better weather in the spring i plan to look in to this. i've seen people doing aerobatics at the local practice area and it looks like fun. |
