For example, can you hear the motor trying to raise and lower the window when it is not working? If you can, then maybe the mechanism just needs to be cleaned or lubricated. At worst, it may need a new actuator. If no power is coming to the switch on occasion, then the wiring may be worn and shorting in the part that passes from the body to the door (you can see the conduit for the wires when you open the door) - twenty years of opening and closing the door can wear out the insulation on the wires. Or it could be the switch that moves the window up and down. do other windows have this problem when you try to operate them from the driver panel? If so, then it is probably the wiring. No guarantees that it is not the problem if no other problems appear.
