The last time I signed up for full coverage, I had to bring the car to an office where they checked it for prior damage and took pictures. |

Question: Can I still get insurance and registration? Posted: 14 Nov 2015 11:02 PM PST Probably not, since you have no insurable interest in the vehicle. It's your son's car, not yours. That means he, not you, is responsible for that vehicle and any loss or damage it causes. If the car is damaged, or causes damage to a third party, you don't lose anything. Insurance only compensates you for something you lost, and you don't risk losing anything. Some insurance providers (the less professional ones, to put it kindly) will gladly write a policy for you and accept premium payments on a vehicle that isn't yours. But then when something happens and you file a claim, they then check the title (they always check the documents) and send you a letter saying they can't pay for anything. Because you have no insurable interest in the vehicle. The only right way to do this is through your son. |
