Question: Remove heavy rust on motorcycle? Posted: 01 Oct 2014 10:58 PM PDT Have the parts with most corrosion blasted and cleaned to remove all paint and loose corrosion then assess if the part can be renovated or needs replacement – you will need to act quickly the corrosion will return if you leave untreated metalwork open to the atmosphere, at the very least prime it or have it chromed, even a greasy fingerprint can leave a mark on bare metal. |
Question: Whee could I buy a small engine? Posted: 01 Oct 2014 10:47 PM PDT Whee could I buy a small engine? Hey, I was wondering if any body knew a junk yard in the Vancouver, WA area that sold or had old 80-250cc motors from lawnmowers etc. Kind of like a pic-n-pull but for small motors. I'm fixing up a bike and want to put a bigger motor in it from a junk yard possibly. |
Posted: 01 Oct 2014 10:14 PM PDT Boston in winter means snow and ice I assume. You do not need power (which you cannot use in really bad weather and affects fuel consumption) but you might benefit from a bike that is partially designed for falling over and is lightweight. I would look at a small-engined trailie or dual-purpose bike and fit engine bars. Remember that ice is almost impossible to ride (and brake) on, although snow is not impossible, and that cold can be a killer, so protective clothing should be part of your budget. |
