Cars & Transportation: Aircraft: “Question: How many pilots drive a private jet?” plus 5 more

Question: How many pilots drive a private jet?

Posted: 23 Aug 2014 04:06 AM PDT

Like flying any other airplane -
Private jet or airline jet makes no difference -
Generally 2 pilots are required - pilot and co-pilot -

Very few private jets are certificated for "one pilot" only -
And these cannot operate commercially without a co-pilot -

And pilots do not "drive" - they "pilot" or "fly" airplanes -

Question: How limitation of weight play important role in flight planning ?

Posted: 23 Aug 2014 01:25 AM PDT

Airliners have many weight limitations which must be computed before takeoff -

Maximum landing weight at destination -
Maximum payload for the flight (not to exceed the maximum zero fuel weight) -
Maximum takeoff weight (runway or performance limit) -
All above limitations must be observed for fuel weight limits -

Question: About flight schools?

Posted: 22 Aug 2014 08:19 PM PDT

You can train in any flight school in numerous countries -
However first thing is consider where you want to make a pilot career -
Example, Hong Kong or anywhere else -

Consider immigration and employment restrictions -
Consider also the type of licence you want to get (and will be required) -

To start a career as pilot, you need a "CPL" Commercial Pilot Licence -
In all ICAO countries, this amounts to some 250 hours flight time -
The training may take up to 1 year's time -

Question: What type of crash situations would an ejection seat not be useful for?

Posted: 22 Aug 2014 06:04 PM PDT

It would be useful at any time when an aircraft becomes unflyable and the pilot is unable to regain control of his/her aircraft. It's not common in civilian aircraft because they're

1.Heavy
2.Expensive
3.Expensive to maintain

Some civilian jet demonstration teams like the Breitling Jet Team that fly L-39s have ejection seats because they're often engaged in fundamentally dangerous maneuvers.

Check out this 20 minute video from the United States DoD in the 80s about ejections, a little dated but all the fundamentals are still there (IMO) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aa1Ba_NE...
