why is my subwoofer doing this in my car?

I have a 10 inch kicker sub with a 900 watt pioneer amp you can feel the base but it's not that much at all compared to my friends who has the same thing I think it might be my ground the guy ran a really thin wire from the amp under my back seat to a screw at the front of my hood and the sub sometimes makes a woooing sound over and over again it's driving me nuts thank you

Aftermarket stereo turns on but no sound out of speakers?

My friend gave me a radio which he had in a jeep Cherokee and he already had the wiring harness which I know is wired up correctly because it worked in his jeep. I put it in my truck and it powered up and the screen came on and you can do everything but there is no sound or even static. But when I put the stock radio back in it works fine. What could cause this? I have a 2006 ram 1500 Laramie with infinity system

Question: Can you hook up an amp to a battery thats just sitting in the garage?

As a suggestion, get a little cheap solar panel that is meant for on the go, hook it up to the battery to keep it charged and then like mike said, make sure to reverse the polarities.
