Question: Question for drivers?

Question for drivers?

If you're driving on a 2 lane road (One lane going one way, the other lane going in the opposite direction) and in the distance you see an emergency vehicle with it's lights flashing coming in your direction, but staying in its lane. Are you supposed to pull over to the side of the road, although there's no point whatsoever? I've come across this situation multiple times and nobody pulls over to the right side. I'm in Ontario by the way. Again, it's if the emergency vehicle is going in the opposite direction that you are going in, do you have to pull over to the side, with no median involved. Nobody has done it when I saw it. I know that you have to when they're coming behind you, but what about this? Can anyone help? Thanks.

Question: Why did the driving test examiner leave some things out?

Why did the driving test examiner leave some things out?

I live in California and took the driving exam for the second time. I failed. I thought I was doing fine until driving about 5-7mph over the speed limit of 25mph just before turning back into the parking lot. But anyways, during my second test, why didn't my examiner have me back up in a straight line or change lanes like my first test? Did I do something wrong? Did she want me to head back to the DMV because I already failed. Also when we were turning out of the parking lot, I was stupid enough to ask "which way do you want me to turn?" (she told me that she would tell me when/where to turn, but she didn't) before I realized it was a "right-turn-only" road. Did that fail me?

Question: Discussion question for my class, I would love personal opinions, are people more afraid of death by disease or auto/car accidents? Why?

I am not afraid of death by auto/car accidents.
Vehicle "accidents" are not accidents -- 95%+ are collisions caused by two idiots meeting.
I am not an idiot. I am more likely to be hit by lighting than to die in a vehicle collision.

I am not afraid of death by disease.
I *AM* going to die of heart disease. The only male in my family that didn't die of heart disease was shot down in Korea. The only way I can avoid death by disease is to suicide.

Question: When you go out in your vehicle , and arrive at your destination , do you back into a parking stall , or pull in ? Why ?

Hello

It depends. At home I pull in so my drivers door opens over the pavement but that is in a private car park
I do the same when out if I can as it is safer sometimes that means pulling in others it means reversing in

Question: I just can't get the hang of parking. Suggestions?

perpendicular parking:

the rules for perpendicular parking is this: study the space because sometimes the space dimensions are different but usually you will have to start turning when your mirror is aligned with the 1st line before getting into the space and the trick is too be as far as possible as you can. lets just say if you want to go on the right then you will have to go on the oncoming lane as far as you can the most left that you can and then start turning and once your tire enters the space then straighten and then turn all the way to the right to be straight. if the space is smaller then you will have to turn a little bit earlier than usual. remember to always be as far as you can because then you won't take the proper angle.

reverse perpendicular parking:

put your car as far as you can as soon as you pass the 2nd line of where you want to park and then put in a 45 degree angle and then start reversing into the space and straightening it when you think its time.

parallel parking:

for parallel parking you need to be able to know how big the space is for your car. when you drive next to the space, is it longer than your car? if it is then its fit. if its medium then its tight and you will able to get in but it will take more time. if its shorter than your car then impossible to fit. now how to parallel park. pass the front car just a bit until your right side mirror passes the front bumper. reverse and once your car is even with the other car bumper turn all the way to the right and look behind. once you can't see the car right lights with your right back light bumper turn the steering wheel once to the left and then look at your right mirror and then judge when you are close to the curb. you will need to practice in a parking lot learning how close you are to the curb with your right mirror. once you learned that then turn all the way to the left and look at your left mirror and once you look at your left mirror you will have to learn when its at its closest to the bumper. practice in a parking lot. have a friend tell you when you are at the closest to the other car front bumper and then study the mirror distance and remember it and then you will know how close you are. mirrors are tricky because they seem like you are about to hit something but in reality you have more space so its important to study your mirror distance when you are at its closest to the car back bumper. in a tight space its done the same but the difference is once you have done the 3 steps you will have to go forward and turn all the way to the right and then go backwards and turn all the way to the left and repeat this until you are in the tight spot. sometimes it can take 3 minutes. practice parallel parking 2 hours everyday and you will be a master at it. remember to study the space and to learn how to use your mirrors. big space is only 3 steps, medium space is 3 steps but after its forward and back. small space impossible to get in like the one in your video. parallel parking on the left side is done the same but there is a little difference. the difference is when your front seat is even with the car back bumper then you start turning all the way to the left when you reverse because the car turns differently and if you don't do that then you will scrape the other car lol. its harder to get in a tight space on the left side because you have no choice to turn later than on the right side because of the way the car turns so the trick is too avoid the 3rd step which is the last step which is turning all the way to the right. once you turn all the way to the left and then once to the right go forward a bit when you know you are close to the curb and turn all the way to the right and then go backwards and turn all the way to the left and repeat until you are in the space. parallel parking is the hardest skill to master at driving. it takes at least over 50 hours of practice.

backing out of a parking space:

you back out straight and once your tires is even with the other car tire that is parked you turn all the way depending which way you want to go and you look behind

you need to memorize when you are at the closest to the other car bumper with your mirrors and while looking behind. its the only way you won't ever be nervous
