Question: Why do they make 24 volt cars?

Why do they make 24 volt cars?

Why do they make 20 volt cars?
I was thinking about this the other night because a buddy of mine had to wait in the parking lot at work last night for 3 hours waiting for AAA because his battery was dead and no one could jump his car because it's 24 volt. So that got me thinking, why do they make 24 volt cars, it seems like it just an inconvenience. Does a 24 volt car have any benefits. His car is a Ford Taurus. Ps. I asked this question a few hours ago but I put 20 volt instead of 24 by mistake.

Question: What different engines can you put in a 04 lincoln town car ultimate? it has the standard 4.6L v8 but i want to drop it down to a turbo v6.?

you could, but what are your plans for the donor? im not even sure the trans is the same, i think the starter has 2 bolts for the v6, similar to a windsor.
this is where your at, you need to research the systems including body and fuel modules, ac modules, etc. either you donate all systems(because they are usually dependent on each other), or you create a hybrid system combining 2 different systems and subsystems with an interface to keep both systems happy and the check engine light off. this sometimes means providing an artificial data stream.
welcome to my world. this is what it was like to convert pre obd systems to dual fuel lmao

Question: Learning to drive stick?

think of it this way. 1st gear from 0-12 mph. 2ns from 12 to about 30. 3rd from about 30- 45. 4th from about 45 and up and fifth is overdrive for economy. when your at hiway speed 5th is generally used to lower the engine rpm and theoretically lower the amount of fuel used although thats not always the case.
no matter what you have done, you need to be in the right gear for your desired speed/performance.
now as follows. 1st is the best pulling gear, and 5th has very little torque/power compared to 1st. you are just relying on engine torque, or torque minus 22% or so since its generally an overdrive.
simple. the gears can also be used to control speed, not just get moving, but stopping.

Source(s):

if its lugging and bucking and feels like it dont wanna go, adjust the gear selection

Question: What would be a good classic car to have as a primary vehicle?

Posted: 23 Aug 2014 09:44 AM PDT

From experience, a classic, vintage, or collectors car is NOT a good primary vehicle. The costs of owning such a vehicle will always be more than you expect. I tried this for about a year with a 1976 Porsche 914. Even well maintained classic cars will break down unexpectedly, and repairs will be much more expensive, and take much longer than you would expect. I enjoy my little sports car a lot more now that I have a reliable primary vehicle (toyota pickup).

If you decide you must do this, pick a common one, and probably an American one. Pick a model that they made A LOT of so that repairs and parts are cheap and available. I'm thinking 1965-67 Ford Mustang would be the least bad choice.

Question: Is my car considered "riced out"?

Is my car considered "riced out"?

One of my cars is a 1995 Corolla, everything about it is stock except the head unit and speakers but that's nothing new with a car that old. I recently blacked out the tailights, badges, grill and stock rims because i honestly like the whole matte black look. There's no exhaust, engine build, or anything like that, is it considered "riced out?"
