Question: How to model the flight kinematics of an airplane with air resistance? Posted: 06 Sep 2014 03:47 AM PDT I want to derive some equations for a 2-D airplane's motion, specifically when it lifts off and lands. Can someone show me where I can start and how I can use differential equations to develop equations like the speed/position of the airplane in its x and y components? Also, if anyone is wondering, the assumptions I'm making is that there's an air resistance force that acts opposite to the instantaneous direction of motion and is proportional to the speed of the aircraft at that point (also constant lift coefficients, pressure, area). I also want to assume that the aircraft is accelerating with a constant force.
Question: How much would it cost to get training to pilot for an oil rig? Posted: 06 Sep 2014 01:04 AM PDT You're talking about a COMMERCIAL Pilot's certificate here... The training required to get to the point where you would be LEGAL to take a job flying a helicopter would cost in the neighborhood of $85,000 to $100,000 in US currency. That includes somewhere around 250 hours of actual flying experience in a helicopter, @ around $250 per hour. Yes, the military IS an option to obtain the required training and experience, tor those who can qualify and make it through the military training and service commitment that is required. We're talking maybe 1 successful candidate out of several thousands of applicants here. And you'll be required to serve 8-10 years on active duty before you can leave the service to go look for civilian employment. Of course, just because you have the license doesn't mean that you will find a job. There are lots of unemployed pilots out there who probably have more experience than you would, and THEY would be first on the list for hiring. 21 years on active duty in the US Air Force.
Question: Why don't the mig 29's ever use the front engine openings? Posted: 05 Sep 2014 10:54 PM PDT because you don't see them using unimproved runways. the upper wing intakes were meant for operations from grass/dirt airstrips, and may be used while taxiing. considering the fact you're likely to see MiG29 only during airshows, where FOD hazard is negligible, the pilots just don't bother with adding one extra procedure to their checklists because they already have enough to focus on.
Question: Big Bright lights over Madison Wisconsin? Posted: 05 Sep 2014 07:42 PM PDT What disorder do you think I may have?I am a junior in high school and my negative feelings were quite severe today, so I've been researching and I think I may have...
Posted: 05 Sep 2014 12:27 PM PDT . Any college degree (for major US air carriers) is satisfactory - As far as selection, to be hired as pilot, it is function of your qualifications - Greatest success to get hired by major airlines are ex-military pilots - Captaincy with major air carriers is function of seniority (date of hire) - Proper English language knowledge is required (includes spelling and syntax) -
