I failed my drivers test yesterday and I have to wait until the 23rd to retake it. Why is it so long? Is there any way I can make it sooner? |
Question: Do you think truck driving is right for me? Posted: 04 Sep 2014 08:25 AM PDT Driving a truck CAN be a rewarding career, but don't plan on getting rich or being able to "go see the world" from the cab of a truck. First off... In spite of what some people believe, the average experienced trucking company employee long-haul driver will earn about $35,000 per year. And that's for working 70 hours per week, IF you can actually get enough loads to keep you running for 70 hours per week. That works out to about $10 per hour. You COULD make more money from flipping hamburgers at Mickey D's and be home to sleep in your own little bed every night. You'll also spend an average of 5 weeks at a time away from home, working, sleeping and living in a truck. Then you can come home for 2-3 days and you're right back out there again. You will be away from family and friends, and no time off for holidays or any other special occasions. As for "Seeing the country"... Yes, you WILL see the country. From behind the windshield of a truck, but you won't have time to stop and actually visit all those touristy kind of attractions. I can't even think of how many times I have driven past the Grand Canyon, or the St Louis Arch, or Knott's Berry Farm or any other stops, but never had the time to stop and see them... OR even if I did have the time, there's no place to park a 75 foot long 18 wheeler. You're pretty much stuck eating, sleeping and working alone in the cab of your truck. Maybe the company will let you have a dog or a cat, but don't count on it. Been there, done that. Got the T-shirt AND the souvenir coffee mug. |

Question: How to get a Dubai Driving licence quickly? Posted: 04 Sep 2014 07:06 AM PDT I recently moved to Dubai and want to get a driving licence so I can buy a car, I have a driving licence from back home and have had it for four years however it is not from a country where i can convert it directly. I don't have the time to take the 30 lessons and all other intricacies needed to get the licence. I have heard from multiple people that it is possible to get the licence faster by paying some instructors a bit extra on the side, however, I have been unable to locate any such instructors. Any help or advice on how to speed along the process would be appreciated |
