Question: What is better about the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Honda CBR 600RR's compared to the newer ones? Posted: 12 Oct 2014 10:51 PM PDT
Update : Why do people chose these model years over the newer ones? More horsepower? Faster? Lighter? Other than the price difference, I just don't get it :P |
Question: Is my motorcycle running lean or rich? Posted: 12 Oct 2014 10:26 PM PDT Is my motorcycle running lean or rich? I have an 06 ninja 250r, salvage, about 4,500 miles. I think mine is one or the other because of certain signs I'm getting. 1. Starts up easily in cold conditions but when the engine is warm it's harder to start and I have to give it some throttle. 2. The choke kills the engine when the engine is warm. 3. The exhaust turns blue. 3. My bike idles higher sometimes on red lights and I have to blimp the throttle to get it back down to normal idle. 4. And there's also this smell. Have any ideas of what I should do? Or whether it's lean or rich? I'd appreciate the help guys :/ |
Question: Should i fix my 2000 yamaha r1 or move on an buy a new one? Posted: 12 Oct 2014 06:41 PM PDT you wouldn't be "trusting" a shop. pay for a diagnosis, get a quote on the repair. and if that doesn't fix the problem, THEY have to pay for it, or refund your money. but me personally, i'd get a new one. get a later year model. |
Question: I'm planning to take my CBR back to Arizona I'm in Indian? Posted: 12 Oct 2014 06:11 PM PDT Rent a U-Haul 1 way , drive South a few hundred ( or several hundred ) miles , pull the bike out and ride home through Texas and New Mexico . |
Question: Financing a motorcycle? Posted: 12 Oct 2014 05:55 PM PDT Ask these simple questions ( 1 ) what is my APR , ( 2 ) how much additional in interest am I paying ? If you can get 0.9% ,,, even 1% or 2% financing then it's not a bad idea . If you are paying 8% , 9% ,,, 10% then you will find you are adding 2 grand to the cost of that bike . To me that is a suckers deal . |
Question: Why do people say not to start on a powerful bike? Posted: 12 Oct 2014 05:12 PM PDT >"It only goes as fast as you make it" It only takes a moment's inattention to turn the throttle a degree – on a small displacement bike that will not be a big deal, the revs will not increase by much, possibly a hundred or so, On a larger displacement bike, especially one with multiple cylinders, that is designed to rev quickly and will increase quicker. It might not seem much, if you have no experience, but it can (depending on your position in the rev range) accelerate the bike by a considerable amount. You can twitch the throttle by looking over your shoulder or adjusting your position if you are not careful. You will reply, "I will concentrate on 'respecting' the throttle" – but if you are concentrating on the throttle, what is happening on the road? |
