Tilt and Trim Question?

I have a 1978 ranger bass boat with a 115 Johnson outboard that's equipped with electric tilt and trim.
I noticed my motor seemed to be trimmed up to high even when it was all the way down, so today I saw underneath the motor there is a big pin in place of a hole that stops the motor from going down anymore, and there are 5 more holes that gradually go up and one more that's lower than where the pin is placed, I moved it to the lowest one, will this make it get on plane quicker?
