Would this be a good first car?

I found a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix for $2000. It has a 3400 V6 Engine in it. My grandpa is a mechanic and told me that the 3400 isn't the greatest engine, and it has 184,000 KM. I haven't looked it at, only seen a picture and was wondering if it'd be worth looking at. I will be checking oil, the tire tread and if there is any rust.
