No that is a series of batteries, similar to the ones used in portable electric drills, they are perfectly serviceable as long as they continue to hold a charge and are considerably lighter than the usual automotive battery. Check the battery with a multimeter, expect 12v minimum when the engine is not running, anything less and the battery is probably toast.

Replacing or recharging it might show if that is the problem, but it could be another cause.

You are right about Chinese parts quality, but they are improving (people used to have the same concern about Japanese bikes) and that engine looks to be based on proven Japanese tooling and design.

I would look for owner's clubs and read what they are saying about them.

Get a used touring bike with a radio. They come in different prices, depending on age and condition. No one can tell you what kind of used bike you want. IN THE ALTERNATIVE, get a Nolan or other helmet with earphones and bluetooth, or an earplug-type headset. A lot of phones have built-in radios, and will broadcast wirelessly.
